Clean Sabarimala campaign is aimed at creating awareness among devotees about the dangers of plastic usage in Sabarimala. Through this campaign, we encourage devotees to be part of this initiative by spreading awareness or when they visit Sabarimala next time, not to carry plastics. Sabarimala is known as 'Punyam Poonkavanam' (a sacred garden) a playing ground for lord Ayappan. The question to devotees is that do we keep the 'poonkavanam' as sacred as it supposed to be. The waste disposed of by the devotees to Sabarimala is threatening the wildlife of the region and the evergreen forests. High Court of Kerala has banned plastics in Sabarimala and directed that 'Irumudikkettu' should not contain plastic materials. Despite the High Court judgment and plastic ban, the devotees still carry the plastics and dispose of them in Sabarimala. We aim to create awareness through Clean Sabarimala Campaign.
